1. On the outline map of India provided to you, mark the location of all of the following. Write in your QCA Booklet the significance of the locations, whether physical/commercial/economic/ecological/environmental/cultural in not more than 30 words for each entry: (2 x 5 =10 marks)

2. Briefly explain the following terms in not more than 50 words each: (5 x 5 =25 marks)

  1. Focus of an earthquake
  2. Mediterranean and Trans-Asiatic belt of earthquakes
  3. Role of earthquakes in landform development
  4. Plate tectonic and earthquakes
  5. Rayleigh waves

3. Explain in detail the origin, propagation and effects of tsunami. Which geographical features are more prone to tsunamis and why? Discuss with the help of suitable diagrams. (20 marks)


4. There is a definite pattern in the distribution of earthquake prone regions in the world. Identify this trend and correlate it with various geographic features and phenomena. (15 marks)


5. Write a short note on ‘Elastic Rebound Theory’. (15 marks)
