In the last 10 days I went through all ILP tests.. Value add.. 60 days of this year and last year…and other initiatives with one thing in mind ki jab poore sal yahi Kiya to last 10 days me bus isi faith se yahi sab revise kr Leta Hu. Man that was the best decision for me. My room mates told me to go through various compilations and notes coming up in the market but I avoided them and today I am at peace. Baba if I could ever be able to meet you I’ll fall for your effort and importance in my preparation. Nothing could have saved me today if you were not there and I had even a single doubt on your quality. Baba Jee Tussi Great Ho. Tohfa qubool kro 🙂 this year whole crowd and every single sincere aspirant should realize who is the Boss in quality guidance. It’s baba only Baba

CHECKED WITH KEY…..SCORES….. 70….Very poor…I may not qualify this year too

  • Drop Out

103-105.. Tough paper yaar. pata nahi hoga ki nahi. 🙁
    Attempted: 86.

    • meluha007

I am getting the same score. 🙁
The only chance we can get through is if it comes down to 100…which is unlikely enough. 🙁

      • Superman

No. it’s not a dream. Cut-off will certainly be lower than 100 this time.

    • meluha007

I’m getting the same score. We can get through only if the cutoff goes down to 100 which seems quite a dream. 🙁 🙁

  • shyam

    Hi Iasbaba team,

In the omr sheets there is a box near the subject for the BOOKLET CODE. I marked the bubbles correctly but in the box I filled the bubble with Paper I/II values. IS THIS A CRITERIA FOR REJECTION OF OMR SHEETS. CAN any of you confirm this please. This is the first time I am writing prelims. The instructions sheet specify roll no and booklet code which I have filled properly. CAN anybody please clarify this??

  • Rohit

One of the implications of equality in society is the absence of ??
Indus valley me horses the ya nahi?
NPCI helps in promoting financial inclusion? shouldnt this be digitalisation, not financial inclusion?

    • ROCCO

      with regard to question 3
fainancial inclusion is an umbrella term ..that includes banking facility , credit, investment , insurance facility ..so in a general way npci promrotes fainancial inclusion ….,need to look in a braod manner ..bro.

      • Rohit

yes, but still. the immediate target is not financial inclusion.

        • ROCCO

mrunal sir ne bola hai…..baal ki khaal nhi nikalni …

yes indeed india forex increased enormously ..about 367 billion … during 1991 crises we didn’t have enough forex to pay for our imports …now we have cover for about 8 months

  • Abhit

How many of you think that paper was tough
    Plz reply

    • Rohit

I think the questions were tricky but all the questions were relevant.

  • Assassin

paper was definitely tougher from last year..similar to baba’s mock 2..

  • Chandra Prakash

CALCULATED MY MARKS, GETTING ONLY 80.33. QUESTIONS WERE NOT SO TOUGH. BUT IT WAS THE NON-REVISION, WHICH SANK MY BOAT. I HARDLY MANAGE TO SPARE TIME TO STUDIES. 🙁

    • Disha Thalvar

what was your last year marks? i too gets 80.33

      • anurag gupta

Same here. 82 By baba’s key

      • Chandra Prakash

        ABOUT 76

    • anurag gupta

True. made a lot of silly mistakes.

  • Shobhit

    I have a query.

Horse bones were found in surkotada. and the option says there is no evidence that they were aware about horse. But bones show that there is one evidence though may not be prevalent. How can we go with”There was NO evidence?

    • Sarkar

Also unicorn seal has been found which means they were at least aware of horse

      • Shobhit

Right! My focus is on word “NO EVIDENCE”. Prevalent nahi the horses, but atleast there was evidence. Cow ka evidence bilkul nahi h.

        • Sarkar

Yes! Horse bones make the ‘evidence’ part wrong while unicorn seal would make the ‘aware’ part of the statement wrong…

          • axy

            its “indus valley” guys
            NOT Indus valley civilisation sites…
also there were seals of bull (P.S.it is not a hermaphrodite)

          • Shobhit

It’s indus valley people. It has been generalized. Loke say rig vedic people. It doesn’t specifically mean only indus valley region.

      • Superman

Haan bhai poori duniya se trade tha Indus Vallry ka. Aware hi na ho horse ke baare mein, aisa nahi ho sakta.

    • rahul bansal

      bhai kya rha tera….

      • Shobhit

Acha score to nahi h. 111.34 aaya h. Dekho kya hota h. Borderline case

        • rahul bansal

          ajeeb sa paper tha yar

          • Shobhit

            Haan. Kitna score bana?

          • rahul bansal

117.. hr key se same :p

          • Shobhit

Nice score 🙂 kitna cutoff Jaa skta? Mera to borderline h. Hua to 5-6 marks se clear hoga. Agar ruka to 5-6 marks se rukega. Tensed 🙁

          • rahul bansal

bhai cutoff ka koi andaza nhi lgta mujhe.. hr saal paper kehte hai tough hai bt cutoff upr..

          • Shobhit

Yeah. But last year paper was on expected lines if u go by the current affairs. This year case isn’t so. Jo max schemes and news par questions the like Kigali ammendment n ISRO launches etc etc… Isbar kuch tha hi nahi. Khair 105 se niche rhe to acha hoga 😅

          • rahul bansal

mein to toppers k no. dekh rha hu jo hr test mein full marks late the.. unke no. drop huye hai.. so can expect drop in cutoff too..

          • Shobhit

Iasbaba ILP ka na bolo bhai 😛 Usme to meri bhi rank top 10-20 me kai baar rahi. But abhi haal dekhlo 😀 Basically nobody cant predict upsc. Koi pattern hai hi nahi upsc ka.

          • rahul bansal

ohhh… bhai mein to 60 days wala bol rha hu.. log to 100 batta 100 krte the.. dar lgta hai unse.. unse standard set kiya hai meine… 😛

          • Shobhit

haha cool. Maine to kafi silly mistakes bhi kar di. Khair ab koi matlab nahi.

  • Siddhartha_IAS

Expected cutt off CS Prelims 2017
    General 115 – 120
    Obc 106.00 – 110
    Sc 98 – 103
    ST : 95- 100

    • Assassin

lets not share some manufactured cutoff….no one can predict it….

      • Siddhartha_IAS

        From other source .. average value : 2015 – 2016

        • Assassin

but this paper is quite different from last year ..cannot rely on law of averages

          • Hellfire

            very true

    • Shobhit

115 seems to be too high. in 2016 there were current affairs on expected lines which is not the case this year. cut of may stay below 105 I think.

    • balle balle

      nhi bhai
      103-108max for general

  • Shobhit

    Getting 111.34

        • K S

          true that. good luck

    • Superman

Getting 106. I am hopeful that cutoff will be less than 100.

  • Assassin

    ias baba key 111.33

  • Sarkar

Shouldn’t answer for Q62 should be B? Radhakant Deb was founder president of BIA and Gazulu Chetty founded Madras Native Association and not MMS (founded by Anand Charlu and others).

    • Abhijit (ABG)

      yes – you are correct

    • Mayur

      right

  • Sarkar

    According to BABA’s key – 129.33

  • Can someone give me explanation for Q no 36?

    • Sarkar

I think right to vote is both constitutional and legal right while right to get elected is only a legal right

  • NRM

somatic cell nuclear transfer??? isn’t it mitocondrial gene therapy
u need stem cells for cloning not somatic cell, isnt?
    please help

    • Hellfire

somatic cell Nucleus is transferred in cloning. Mitochondrial gene therapy is about three parents baby

    • axy

somatic cell nuclear transfer not related to reproduction.
germ cell – related to reproduction
Therefore answer is disease free organisms

      • Hellfire

Reproductive cloning generally uses “somatic cell nuclear transfer” (SCNT) to create animals that are genetically identical. This process entails the transfer of a nucleus from a donor adult cell (somatic cell) to an egg from which the nucleus has been removed, or to a cell from a blastocyst from which the nucleus has been removed. Source: – “Cloning Fact Sheet”. Human Genome Project Information. Archived from the original on 2 May 2013. Retrieved 25 October 2011

      • NRM

yeah thats wat i though,,,, god knows whats right

        • axy

Somatic cell nuclear transfer is used to treat genetic diseases. Eg: Cystic fibrosis
Germ cells pertain to reproduction, Somatic cell — anything BUT reproduction of ANIMALS.
organisms can include your animals too but that is highly unlikely since somatic cells are NOT totipotent
Even Option D refers to cloning but doesn’t use the terms Reproductive and animals — could refer to plants and microorganisms — which is possible through SCNT.
Therefore correct answer is Option D.

Q1. Masulipatnam was also a major port of Kakatiya Kingdom so was the motupalli. But Masulipatnam port was in news two years back as Andhra govt is planning to do some project

    • axy

last i checked indus valley does not lie in gujrat

      • Sunshine

Lothal is in Gujarat which is an important city of Indus civilization.

    • Arsenal

The entire question has been lifted verbatim from here bro. Indus valley people were not aware of horses. Answer is (c)

      https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/6807702446d57de0de346d1741858fbf9b37de5600ab444fe8f4c1f2b24b5d9e.png

      • Prashant Trivedi

        which is this book?

      • David P

still u can debate unfamiliar vs no evidence, but u are correct answer is gonna be C

        • Arsenal

We can debate anything bhai. But the question has been lifted from here verbatim, anyone with cognition should be able to make that out. And the source matters for such a question.

        • balle balle

actually, only jaw of a horse has been found but that doesn’t conclude on knowledge of horses.

          • Vivek N

RSSharma Ancient History Textbook could be the reference to the question and it clearly mentions “remains of horse but animal wasn’t in regular use”. Famous archaeozoologist, Sándor Bökönyi verified the horse bones at Surkotada. https://www.telegraphindia.com/1150813/jsp/opinion/story_36828.jsp

          • balle balle

yeah..jaw of horse was found..but bit confused b/w the phrase any evidence of horse and jaw found..lets c

      • Madhavi Yadav

But in the question it said ‘no evidence’was found..bt horses bones were found at one site..so we can’t say there is no evidence :/

        • DREAMER

Surkotada site contains horse remains dated to ca. 2000 BCE, which is considered a significant observation with respect to Indus Valley Civilisation. Sándor Bökönyi (1997), on examining the bone samples found at Surkotada, opined that at least six samples probably belonged to true horse.[1][2][4] During 1974, Archaeological Survey of India undertook excavation in this site and J.P.Joshi and A.K.Sharma reported findings of horse bones at all levels (cicra 2100-1700 BCE).[5][6]

        • Rohan Vijay

u are right.. but still, the google books result from where upsc has picked this question, answer should be C only.. too bad that they will probably use that as source, in all likeliness

          • Madhavi Yadav

I think it might b c.all coaching institutes too showing it..upsc too knows the actual answer..bt nevertheless we don’t know.s o guessing the correctness of answer is just waste of tym…n prelims discussion is over for me…sorry to say bt i m no longer interested in the answers of prelims…

          • Rohan Vijay

okay. u dont need to say it like that. good luck (Y)

      • Madhavi Yadav

Kk..i m nt debating..I just saw the long comments 🙂

        • Arsenal

Waise i am considering my answer as wrong 🙂 Even though i marked ‘c’.

          • Madhavi Yadav

My motive wasn’t to make ur answer wrong..just a doubt raised by ne as usual.. 🙂
Bt whatever b the answer..I m feeling like lots of tonnes have been taken off frm head 🙂

          • Arsenal

Haa. Ek tension toh gaya. And I feel ki both of us have a fair chance of making it. So Abhi mains ka prep start 😀

          • Madhavi Yadav

Hehe…waise to I too think so..1-2 din ke brk ke Baad I will make strategy for mains..fir mains ko fodne ki taiyaari karenge 🙂

    • Redemption

      its disputed…never go for exceptions.

    • Superman

Yeah bro. The option said that they were completely unaware of horse’s existence. How can they be completely unaware when they were trading with all the major civilisations of that time? They must have been at least aware of animal called horse. The option was meant to be rejected.

  • Mukesh

    Baba

    • Arsenal

Right to vote may be constitutional, but question has second element, right to get elected which is only legal. So taking both into consideration answer is ‘Legal Right’.

      • Anonymous

But the power to get elected is being derived from the the constitution after all the democratic and adult franchise and the rules for nomination and disqualifications are enshrined in constitution it is constitutional right , legal right in sense derives power from constitution

            Right to vote in India

Many democratic governments consider participating in national elections a right of citizenship. In India, the right to vote is provided by the Constitution and the Representation of People’s Act, 1951, subject to certain disqualifications. Article 326 of the Constitution guarantees the right to vote to every citizen above the age of 18. Further, Section 62 of the Representation of Peoples Act (RoPA), 1951 states that every person who is in the electoral roll of that constituency will be entitled to vote. Thus, the Constitution and the RoPA make it clear that every individual above the age of 18, whose name is in the electoral rolls, and does not attract any of the disqualifications under the Act, may cast his vote. This is a non discriminatory, voluntary system of voting. from prs website

If answer is c “Any citizen of India whose name appears in the electoral roll of a constituency”. Then How PM NM contested from Vanaras. ?

    • Ashish Redhu

      “a constituency” vs “the constituency”

    • Richard

it just says a constituency. not that particular one. unlike the previous option

Are rights co relative with duties we do enjoy rights like right to privacy, faith, expression etc without relating them with any particular duties

This is a non discriminatory, voluntary system of voting. source- prs website

Baba please reply to me. I am getting 103-105.. general category. Please say if there is any chance. I’m feeling extremely disappointed. All the analytical questions are correct. Even the most confusing ones. But I got stuck because of the facts. What should I do…? 🙁

    • Superman

Bhai I am getting 106. I am confident that cutoff will be less than 100.

      • DREAMER

i am getting 106 bhai last year i got 137.67…..cutoff will be low

GETTING 130 IN PAPER 1 PAPER 2 120+ AS PER SHANKAR KEY

  • Arsenal

Getting 125.26 as per your key baba. But I think two answers in your key are wrong, radhakant deb and ivc horse(debatable), both my answers are matching with your key.
So im revising my score downwards to 119.92 as per the apparent mistakes in your key.
Getting 119.92 as per shankar ias key also. I think i should safely expect above 114.58-117.25. Expecting cutoff to be not more than 110 (it may be lower also).
Hope i make it, this is my first attempt. Thanks for the 60 day program 🙂

  • David P

119 according to baba and shankar hope this is a safe zone

  • Vivek

I was terribly upset with the paper. Could score only 114.
As per last year trend and 100 less vacancies this year compared to last year, cutoff might cross 116. #toughtime

  • Vinod Pal

    • saran

Do not speak like this. This just seems like acting as a tensed person and trying to let everyone know about the colorful marks you got. Try to end it in flying colours rather than the beginning. Good luck.

      • apetitan

I am an average student man. An average student reads newspapers everyday, plans for subjects, gives test properly, revises when necessary, re-revises, fears that one gets only that he deserves and tries to prepare as humanely as possible. An average student gives exams, hopes to clear it but finds that there are more 15k average students in 4L who give exam. I don’t want to crib, never boast because I know how it feels like when people display marks more than they have got. One less opportunity to get selected. Remember man, after a certain extent its not your or my doing that makes us live in circumstances we are in. Sometimes its mere chance. Happy solistice

        • baba

ye jo upar wale saare kaam likhe hai tumne.. ye sab average student nahi karta..

    • Rohan Vijay

Very high chance. There is a huge chunk in the 110-115 range. So cut off will definitely be between 115-120, or higher. Definitely not below 110 in any case.

  • Ajinkya Dwivedi

    Thankyou @Iasbaba
Your mock test were very helping. All those who have followed you, would benefit.

I am also a beneficiary of your GYAN though some of my silly mistakes will ridicule my score.
Ex : Knew untouchability is right to equality but ticked ×

Indus valley people didn’t used iron but ×

Western ghats are in Gujarat also but ×

Similarly, there are 10 more such mistakes.

Hands are crossed. However, owing to all overexcitation, expecting around 104- 108

When Marco Polo visited India, probably some time around 1289-1293, Machilipatnam was a major port of the Kakatiya dynasty. He referred to the place as Mutfiliffn, and it was also known as Masulipatam.[11] http://www.worldlibrary.org/articles/machilipatnam

  • Tyler

I am Really shocked to see the people who are scoring more than 115 in this tricky paper and thinking cut off will be on the previous years lines. If your marks are really more than 115 in this paper, then you should have some common sense for sure that ” Cut off will be based on candidates performance mainly”.
In 2015 – Paper was moderate – Cut off was 106
In 2016 – Paper was easy and direct one liners. Many people were saying 158, 145,, 125,, 156,, 134.. etc… Then cut off was 116.
In 2017 – Paper is the toughest in years. Most people outside couldn’t attempt 60 bits. I heard mostly people saying 101-115 (Genuinely). So with common sense, in this paper, how will be the cut off?
Online chunk includes fraction of what outside people write. Most people while checking keys ignore the questions what they did put wrong as ” Ye right honaa hi hain.. UPSC key pe right hoga.. mein tick marlunga” type of attitude.
So This is Real UPSC standard paper guys. It’s a tight slap on guys, who think by mugging up current affairs and some plans and test series will clear Civils Prelims. In my opinion, Last prelims was not a UPSC standard paper at all. considering it as bench mark for cut off or anything is ridiculous.

    • Abhijeet

yaa bro i agree wid u when u say that this year paper were more traditional UPSC types and just mugging CA wasnt enough…
cut off will go down but at this moment no one knows how much dip it will take so its always better to be positive and strt mains prep after a break..

waise seeing u after a long tym (strting few days of 60 days prog)

      • Tyler

It’s good. Actually online platforms have created monotony in preparation for UPSC like IIT,NIT courses. Bhai log, UPSC is different from all exams. That’s why its craze will never reduce. There are no specific models for questions have to be asked. Whether you are following baba, insights, vision anything- just remember- they are the basis for your analysis in exam only. I wish paper like 2016 will never come in history again. People started to think ye test series karlunga– direct bits aajaayega– Kaam katham. Baba’s efforts were tremendous. If you follow his spirit rather than mugging up bits of 60 days plan- one can definitely sail through..

Seeing you after a long time bhai. Happy for your marks. Am finally landing in 108-112 zone. but hope its more than enough for this paper.

        • Abhijeet

bro..i spoke to my mentor pavan sir class and he said me anything above 100-105 is safe this tym..so if we go by his words u r above the line…hope to c u in TLP answer writing practise session when it starts..u bring gud analysis to discussion..thanks..

          • Tyler

Thanks bhai. I am some what good at predicting cut off’s :P. My wild guess cut off will be 102.66 this time for general. I was almost accurate in 2015 and 2016 cut off. will see. Even if i don’t sail, not a problem. I am satisfied with my performance in this paper.

          • Abhijeet

            🙂

          • Tyler

            Btw whats your optional?

          • Abhijeet

            commerce and accountancy
            urs ?

          • Tyler

            Mera Anthropology Mahan 🙂

          • Abhijeet

ohh…does anthro has any overlap with GS ?

          • Tyler

Not much unless if few tribal based questions come in GS-1. But it’s interesting and easy to carry out for me due to job constraints.

          • Rohan Vijay

Very low chance. There is a huge chunk in the 110-115 range. So cut off will definitely be between 115-120, or higher. Definitely not below 110 in any case.
Just the observation that people getting high last year are getting low is not at all justified. I know MANY who were getting low last year, and storming 125 plus with ease this year. So it has gone both ways. Please dont expect cutoff to fall, be realistic. Prepare for mains because you anyway have to prepare mains in any case, make your optional strong.

          • mayank agarwal

bhai, can you give ur opinion on this test series. U sound like a pro. Some rankers have come together to conduct a mains test series online here:

            http://exam.aikyatha.in

If not this, then i’ll have to go for the usual options of vision ias/gs score which i personally feel isn’t very effective. baba is also not coming up with any test series online i guess

        • mayank agarwal

seems very much sufficient. i am being told the cut off is around 105

        • Niharika

          I agree completely…..

    • Shatrughan Murmu

Yes totally… It was may be difficult but most logical test ever. No need to spends lacs in coaching. Spend that money on books , newspaper and u will get through.

    • KopSC

      bhai..so with 111-115 range/ Gen
should I start preparing for mains?
      what do you suggest

      • Tyler

        I honestly think No bhai.

        • KopSC

          shukriya janab

    • saran

Yes I also agree with you. I can quote another scenario. In 2013, paper was so easy and cut off was 245 for general. In 2014, the paper was tough and CSAT was also tough during that year and everyone by looking at last year cut off was saying like the cut off would be 240, 235 etc. But the cut off was 205. Like that I also think the cut off will be less. Having said that, we should bear in mind the fact that it is UPSC, making predictable unpredictable. So anything can happen I think.

Also I would add another high mark to the list of 2016 marks you mentioned. Just take a look at this. I dont know whose this. But after seeing it, I got like WHOAAAAA…………. Absolutely shocked by seeing this.

      • Tyler

UPSC never decides cut off for it self. It’s not their tool.
“Kya Sabko 110 ke neeche marks aane se.. UPSC cutoff 110 Rakhega kya?”
Kitna v unpredictable ho… Cutoff depends on paper level and candidates performance only.

    • Rohan Vijay

There is a huge chunk in the 110-115 range. So cut off will definitely be between 115-120, or higher. Definitely not below 110 in any case.
Just the observation that people getting high last year are getting low is not at all justified. I know MANY who were getting low last year, and storming 125 plus with ease this year. So it has gone both ways. Please dont expect cutoff to fall, be realistic. Prepare for mains evryone anyway. because you anyway have to prepare mains in any case, make your optional strong.

    • Rohan Vijay

It is NOT a tough paper come on! Yes there werent many direct one liners, but questions were filled with ridiculous options which were eliminated easily.

    • dul

frst of all told u 158,145,125,156 cut off in 2016…they r idiots

  • Assassin

switched many answer at last moment ..and all of them were right…alas! i am not Barry Alen.
so, finally worst case scenario: 108.66 (marking doubtful as negative) and best case as 116…and category as OBC
still hoping to write mains …@[email protected]:disqus waiting for some offline answer writing test series at delhi.

    • Mohit

      Run Assassin, Run! :p

      • Assassin

        ha ha…that was apt 😀

        • Mohit

          Haha!

    • saran

      how many attempted ?

  • Learner…

Seeing a lot aspirants stating the paper was tough, although I couldn’t attempt too many, due to lack of revision, speed issue, focused on other topics, needed more practice and not managing myself in those 2 hours appropriately. But in my personal opinion the paper was moderate. Many of the questions had subtle linkage with current affairs (more than past 12 months also).

    • saran

I don’t know lack of revision is an issue as far as this paper is concerned. Even still it was a problem for those who done revision well. But speed issue and managing time is a thing that all we need to consider.

      • Learner…

Agreed. Also almost all these topics were in the news, so we are supposed to know the basics of these. Out Of The Blue can’t be termed for this.

    • Tyler

Bhai. Toughness is not interms of level of knowledge only- It’s mainly in the level of time and confusion. You have to think twice before ticking the answer this time. and most questions made everyone to read twice and think thrice. There lies the problem. many people who are good at polity did mistakes by overthinking some questions. So in those tension two hours, you cannot cook a Brahman Nice meal with cool ness. Kitna attempt karna… direct questions nahi hain… boht tension rahta hain max logon ko. So paper way ahead tougher for many than previous years.

    • Deepak Agarwal

Bro I feel ques paper wanted to test abt basic concepts. However next year pattern will again change for sure.

Answers in various keys (Question 96 Fungal question(marked “c”), Question 49 cabinet form should be “c”

    • Valar Dohaeris

q49 – should be B. Cabinet doesn’t ensure collective responsibility. Its just a group of CoM who hold important portfolios and related departments to make quick decisions. Ques was picked up directly from laxmikant. Find the topic “advantages of cabinet form of government”

      • Arsenal

100% agreed. I’m surprised that people are even debating this. It’s directly from laxmikant.

        • Kunal

No it’s given in Laxmi that parliamentary form is same as cabinet form of government…… What you’re saying is prime ministerial form of government

          • Arsenal

‘Cabinet’ is for quick decision making. End of story.

If you disagree then good for you, I’m tired of debating on various forums. Consider your answer as right and be happy, chalo congrats. 🙂

          • Valar Dohaeris

            😀

        • Kunal

No it’s given in Laxmi that parliamentary form is same as cabinet form of government…… What you’re saying is prime ministerial form of government

        • S A

Insights says straightforward question and chose Parliamentary 😐

          • Arsenal

I have revised my scores after multiple keys.
            Ias baba: 120,
            Shankar and Vaji: 114.67
Personal key based on research from here and there: 117.33
Worst case (all doubtful being considered as wrong) = 109.33.

Too scared for myself, you’ll sail through though 🙂

          • Mukesh

All doubts cannot be wrong bhai. Your score should not go below 115. Chill and start for mains

          • S A

That’s what. Too much range. Could swing either way. Should start mains prep and stay away from disputed question debates on forumias, disqus et al for sanity.

          • Arsenal

Sanity has been fucked 😛 I’m a zombie at the moment.

          • S A

Your personal key says 117 it’ll be right and that’s amazing. Same goes for me. Don’t easily fall for the 120+ scores. Not everyone is honest, they’re probably taking best case.

Uncertainty ruins mains scores. That’s the last thing you’d want. So from tomorrow dive into mains prep because UPSC won’t let us take a breather and honestly I’m not even enjoying the time off. Feels very forced… This is also a note to self.

          • Arsenal

Yes Shruti, thanks for the talk. Going to back myself now. Rampage mode. Damn these forums and coaching institutes.

          • S A

            🙂

          • Arsenal

            Done.

      • Influenza

Your point is fair. But if you say “cabinet doesn’t ensure collective responsibility”.That is not true.It is about collective responsibility.Quick decisions are also taken in presidential systems.
Its about constitutional philosophy weather cabinet is a instrument of quick decision making or collective responsibility.
I think its more of CR in terms of philosophy.Although I am not dismissing your point completely.

        • Valar Dohaeris

Government as a whole is responsible to the people. Cabinet includes only bunch of ministers. These ministers are not responsible to the people as a whole but to the Lok Sabha. Speed comparison is not parliamentary vs presidential but for utility of cabinet in Parliamentary form. Had all decisions included entire CoM to be present, that would make govt decision making quite slow. In this context, the speedy advantage of cabinet is discussed

          • Influenza

but question asks about principle underlying “cabinet form of government” not just cabinet.

          • Valar Dohaeris

What is the difference between two?

      • Influenza

Anyway i understand that it can be B also.Laxmikant nhi padhi.

      • k sajal

moreover collective responsibility to PEOPLE ???? shouldnt it be lok sabha

    • Mukesh

Bht sahi yar..all the best..yes Baba helped alot. I am also getting 132 Plus. I could find more than 50 Questions and concepts direct from ILP and 60 days. Baba must be happy that even with this paper, his importance is intact. No i m not talking indirect references but very close and direct ones

  • Rohit

Regarding the question on Judicial review.
In laxmikant it is written that JR is the power of the SC to examine the constitutionality of legislative enactments. In the same article it is written that it cab be challenged if the order “is outside the competence of the authority which has framed it” , it doesnt have anything to do with constitutionality.
I think option C is correct if you take a broader view.

  • Superman

    Correct-62, Incorrect-27, Unattempted-11. Total-106/200.
I talked to my friends who sored 135+ last year, they are also scoring 107 and 119 this time. And paper 2 was also tougher. So, I think cutoff will barely manage to touch 3 digits.

    • Mayur

      right..

      • Superman

I have talked to at least 7 people who cleared prelims last year with 135+ marks. You want me to believe that all of them will not be able to clear this year? It’s impossible. Cut-off will not exceed 100 in any case.

        • Rohan Vijay

Hahaha. 100? keep dreaming. I dont mean bad for you, but if you ll think so unrealistically you will be very disappointed at the end. Keep preparing mains, keep optional strong. But cutoff will not drop that much, not below 108-110 (worst case). Good luck

    • dul

cut off will be between 105-110 as per many keys…according to many institute paper not so tough that it will fall below 100….but 106 has chance

  • Chal ! Nalla kahin ka

Getting marks in the range of 103 to 105. Gen category. Better I should focus on my PhD . UPSC certainly not my cup of tea. Thanks babaji for ur concerted efforts in ILP and 60 day plan

    • dul

      cant say nything now

  • Pooja 2017

@IASbaba getting 123.48 as per unofficial keys. What do you think about the likely cut off for prelims ?
speculating as per the escalation in pre marks in 2016, is there any possibility that cut off touches 125 ?

    • Mukesh

Cut off won’t be more than 105 I feel 😛

      • Siddhartha_IAS

        S cut off b/w 105 – 110

      • Pooja 2017

        *fingers crossed*

      • Shobhit

I feel the same but at the same time vacancies have been reduced. Shouldnt that have some neutralizing effect? Though not very high. Last year current affairs were direct and expected ones. This year wasn’t the same case

        • Mukesh

I don’t think so bhai…but it won’t be too high this time.

      • Rohan Vijay

There is a huge chunk in the 110-115 range. So cut off will definitely be between 115-120, or higher. Definitely not below 110 in any case

    • Siddhartha_IAS

      Start 4 mains 2017

    • DREAMER

start for 2019 Prelims as you are not going to clear 2018 prelims also……If you are getting such mark if you are wise enough then you will knowing the standard of paper…..

      • DX

        le liya bc 😀

    • DX

tu prelims hi dete reh jaiyo

      • DREAMER

        le li bhai…

    • Mayur

sorry but very insensitive on your part to ask a question like this.congrats btw

    • Rohan Vijay

You will be safe. There is a huge chunk in the 110-115 range. So cut off will definitely be between 115-120, or higher. Definitely not below 110 in any case

  • Till I Make It Happen

Getting 128-130 according to different keys. Being regular with the 60 Days Plan was one of the best decisions I took. Thank you so much, Babaji. It would have not been possible without you.
I had failed prelims last year, when it was much easier. After assessing my marks as per the different keys, I am hopeful about giving mains this time. Also, I think perseverance is the biggest thing.
Lekin ab mains ke liye ekdum blank hai sab. Please help!!! My optional is PSIR. Sabke sahaare ki bahut jarurat hai.

    • DX

ghnta help kia 60days. ab to yaar chaatukarita band karo tumlog.. koi online site kaam nhi aaya hai.. sb ke sb apne ko chutiya bna rahe

      • Till I Make It Happen

Yaar help not in the sense ki questions wahan se aaye but mujhe toh daily practice aur revision ki wajah se confidence mila. Not saying ki bas woh Karne se hogaya.

        • DX

bro then add it as a disclaimer.. baaki saare misguide hote hain na aise

          • Till I Make It Happen

But Kisi ek source pe rely karna is never advisable in a paper like UPSC. There weren’t many direct questions but I personally feel that 60 Days Plan was the best among other initiatives that I joined. I personally benefitted a lot in terms of confidence and consolidation. Baaki yaar fail toh main last year hui thi toh I think Kisi bhi failure ko itna khudko hurt mat Karne do ki you start using words that you might(or might not) regret later.
            Best wishes

          • Praveen Kumar Vidyarthi

            dx tumse naa ho payega

      • Mukesh

Can understand your frustration very well. Tumhre jaise log hote hain jo ye chahte hi ki Baba jaise log ghar ake paper bata de aur sath ke sath ye bhi bata de ki agar thoda dimag lagana pade questions me to Ye wala option laga dena..hahahaha..

Kam aya ya nhi ye to wo hi janta hi jisne imandari se padhayi ki hai…warna chatukarita krne wale kr bhi rhe hain har jagah…

          • Mukesh

UPSC knew people like you will be there so made the paper like this. Aukat pata hi upsc ko specially of people like u. Keep on barking. I won’t degrade to your level but ek suggestion hai..’Tumse na ho paega’ Kuch aur try kro

          • DX

abbe reserved category se ho tum,, khairaat mein seat mil raha hai to jaade uro mat.. bc aukaat nhi h tmlog ka hmlg se compete karn ka

          • Mukesh

hahaha. I am in General category. Yahan bhi tumhra frustration bekar gaya dost. get some life

        • Till I Make It Happen

How was it for you? Would really be thankful if I could get some help for mains.
          Thanks in advance!

  • David P

Does anybody think one reason for paper being tough was the cramped nature in which questions and options were arranged unlike previous years.

    I am getting 106 – 108.6. What should I do?

    • brainstorm01

Hope for the best prepare for the worst. But actually since most folks here are considering paper as tough u may qualify.

    • Rohan Vijay

Very low chance. There is a huge chunk in the 110-115 range. So cut off will definitely be between 115-120, or higher. Definitely not below 110 in any case

      • Silver Lining

Stop discouraging each and every candidate. Is this how u want to demotivate and push them out of the league? One should prepare as if tomorrow is the D day. Keeping spirits high always help.
P.S. not expecting any of our abuses here!

    • dul

gud chance though may be in borderline

  • brainstorm01

Since yesterday i have heard many saying the paper was tough?? seriously??
am i the only one who feels like it was quite easy? I

    • Siddhartha_IAS

Yes … more fundamental & intellectual paper

    • Tyler

Too many bits you have to think twice and tick the answer. Not like one liners, direct current affairs like last year. Interms of time for so many concept based questions. Yes, it is definitely a tough paper in general sense outside. I don’t or never believe online chunk who say their marks in disguise. Paper is toughest in years – It has been said by many. My friends who got 145 last year only managed to score 96 this year(Genuine score)

      • brainstorm01

Well seriously talking i took it as an easy paper becouse i could solve most of the questions with only conceptual knowledge. Being nill at CA since originally my target 2018 and thus i didnt prepare CA in 37 days i got to prepare. I hope the trend continues next year😊

        • brainstorm01

Btw i was thinking csat (paper-2)is gonna be a cakewalks but boy i could only attemp55 (all right thought) thus i considered it as quite tough(without any practice of course)

        • Tyler

Okay. We will talk in 2018 after your full fledged preparation. Because realusic starts after full fledged prep only. Even laymen can get 70-80 marks and can tell paper is easy. Getting 90 is easy.m. but getting 100 is tough.. getting 105 is tougher. 115 toughest. All the best.

          • brainstorm01

I agree with u on that scoring each more mark requires more and more effort. And thanx for wishes. Hope u will score very good.

      • Rohan Vijay

There is a huge chunk in the 110-115 range. So cut off will definitely be between 115-120, or higher. Definitely not below 110 in any case.
It was not at all difficult just y the observation that people getting high last year are getting low. I know MANY who were getting low last year, and storming 125 plus with ease this year.

    • saran

You could have use a blade and in the presence of invigilator, you could have erase it. It happens with some students in roll numbers. I have seen it before the same that the invigilator helping him to erase it. Invigilator would have arranged the blade for you.

this key is not correct 100%. some answers are wrongly given.
as many people i have seen here are saying that as per IASbaba’s key i got this i got that but no1 has used their brain on the answers and said if the was actually right.

  • Till I Make It Happen

Could somebody please provide link to Vajiram’s answer key? I am not being able to find it. Thanks in advance.

  • anupam nahar

dear baba plz change answer key of national carrier service ..it is not B , it’s D becz it is for educated people , Don’t know y all upsc giant platforms r missing, even vajiram😂😂😋

    • Tyler

It’s D only. It’s not in mission mode for creating opportunities for uneducated youth. It’s a part. I guess answer will be mostly D.

      • Rohan Vijay

bhai B hoga, uneducated ke liye bhi hai..carpenters, plumbers… itna bhi analysis matt karo, thats its not in “mission mode” for uneducated..

        • heisenberg

Tyler, don’t listen to anyone ..just get on with mains ..upsc answer key may be different..so don’t think of marks or options..kisi k A or B khne se ur answer in OMR won’t change..so get on..

      • Interstellar

National Career Service has been launched in a Mission Mode to improve the employment opportunities to uneducated youth of the country.
There is a slight chance that upsc might be trying to trick us here.
        Consider a parallel example.
MNREGA helps in improving the infrastructure of the country.
However, “MNREGA has been launched in mission mode to improve the infrastructure of the country” This sentence doesn’t seem right.
I have marked D so hoping against hope 😛

    106 OBC Any Chances Baba?

    • Ashish

      You have chances

    • saran

      100%

    • Rohan Vijay

Not 100% chance, but still good. Very low chance. There is a huge chunk in the 110-115 range. So cut off will definitely be between 115-120, or higher. Definitely not below 110 in any case (For general, so OBC will be 2-3 marks lower)

      • Arigato Beaucoup

Thanx for reply bro,Hoping to get lucky.

yes bro, listen to a man named balle balle who claims he is an IRS, sure tht will help. please make your optional very very strong right now, dont waste time

tera ho rha h..atb for mains

    • dul

      gud chance

  • baba

    107.33 chances batao

    • Rohan Vijay

Very low chance. There is a huge chunk in the 110-115 range. So cut off will definitely be between 115-120, or higher. Definitely not below 110 in any case

      • Teja

Approximately this year 12000 people will be selected for mains(12-13 times 980 vacancies). not more than few thousands will be above 110+ . Cutoff is basically marks of last candidate. Hence based on toughness one can reasonably expect cutoff to be 100-107 range for general.

        • Rohan Vijay

Definitely not. Paper was not difficult, just different thats why its being termed difficult. Very easily options could be eliminated. There are many many people in the 110-115 chunk, and cutoff will not fall below that. It never falls below what the major chunk scores. U can check ForumIAS, every other guy is 110 plus.
Not trying to discourage just plz be realistic to avoid any disappointment in future

          • Teja

I am being realistic. To be realistic means to consider responses from all students not just those who comment their score on internet forums. There are also huge number of students who did not do well and are therefore not putting their score in internet. I personally know 2 2016 IRs and IPS selected who said it as difficult and cuttoof will be less than 110. Again being realistic means to keep in mind, perception of cutoff is high largely due to last year cutoff which was higher, This year overall scores has comedown. Anyway regardless of this speculation one should star mains preparation .

          • Rohit

This guy is commenting the same thing to everyone. He is just trying to discourage you.
Cut off cant go higher than last year’s cut off.

          • Rohit

Even after 3 days, there are about 7-8 questions for which different institutes are giving different answers.
IVC, prior learning scheme, butterflies, cabinet, national career service, etc
Last year there was not even 1 question which was doubtful, everything was direct.
You still think paper was easy?

          • Rohan Vijay

yes guys, i never said it ll be higher than last year.. there is no chance.. im just saying dont expect it to fall too drastically.. people thinking it will be 99-100 should be ready for disappointment, itni nahi girti hai bhai.. baaki jo maanna hai maan lo. according to me, 108-110 range mei hogi, kyuki 105-115 mei mjor chunk hai, and the cutoff never falls below the major chunk’s score.. believe what u want.. and nonetheless guys please please study for optional properly right now, nahi toh optional padhne ka time nikalta jaata hai

          • Rohit

            What are you saying bro?
For every guy who feels he is in the boundary, you have discouraged him.
You just want us to feel bad.
You commented the same thing everywhere.
            Salute to your hatred man.

          • Rohan Vijay

bhai. sorry if u feel that way.. just be realistic, and maan ke chalo ke shayad na bhi ho, but prepare nonetheless.. kyuki nhi toh abhi tum time waste karoge soch ke ki hoga ya nahi, and then result pe if, god forbid na hua, toh tb time waste karoge ke yaar nahi hua.. bhai realistic hoke, plz work hard, specially on optional right now… time will pass really fast

          • Rohit

            Aur agar hua to?
            To regret nahi karenge?

          • Rohan Vijay

hua toh bhai abhi jo optional ka prepare karoge that will pay off this year only, thankful to god

          • Rohan Vijay

            is it your first attempt?

          • Rohit

Chill. Aap mains ke liye prepare kr lo. Mai prelims ke liye kr leta hu.
            Peace.

          • Rohan Vijay

please change your attitude. and stop being a kid. this exam is more about temperament than anything else

          • Rohit

You should change your attitude. A public servant is supposed to encourage others not discourage.
And you think that u r being practical. But thats bot true either.
Yesterday you claimed cut off to be >120.
Today you are admitting it can be around 110.

          • Rohan Vijay

lol. i never said 120 plus yaar.. hadd hai :p dekh lena bhai, 115-120 (highly optimistically) bola thha, but now i have refined it based on more feedback.. thats it

          • Rohit

I dont want to argue anymore. So chill.

          • JOKER

i agree…..iasbaba should kick his ass and throw him out…rohan vijay…

          • heisenberg

            rohan,just asking..which attempt??

          • balle balle

haan..pagal h ye ..he is just here to mess around..ignore him

          • Rohan Vijay

You are right cutoff will be lesser but not too less, thats all im saying. zyada se zyada 108 tak gir jaaegi.. thats it..

          • saran

Last year’s paper was the easiest of the easy I think. There was no doubt from any single candidate here and also mostly other places too on whether paper was easy or not. Despite being the case, the cut off stood at 116. This year, purely based on the luck indeed, some of the students got 125 above due to the wise elimination. That doesn’t means that everybody did the same thing. It was tough for a lot of people.

          • Rohan Vijay

Thats true, but in any case a major chunk is falling in 110-115 range.. and 105-110 mei toh almost saare hee serious candidates hain. So please dont expect it to fall below this range

          • saran

DO you know what was the IFoS cut off last year ??? It was 133 for general. But civil service preliminary cut off was 116 for general. I haven’t seen the IFoS cut off going lesser to civil service prelims cut off.. Even for the IFoS candidates too, it exam might be tougher as they may also getting in the range of the speculated marks made by you. Taking all that and look at it. That is the basis on which I said this. Still I cannot say it would be right.

          • heisenberg

friend, let me tell u..i got a good outreach …many serious candidates, few IRS and many appearing for interview last year..one even in merit list..only few got in 110-120..rest hanging b/w 100-105..!!so,i hope u get it

          • Shobhit

Lol. do u have any sense in what u have said? Last year one could find many scoring 130+. Same people are scoring 110-115 in this paper. Few comments here and there of 120 and 125 don’t make the cut off shoot. Last year paper being the easiest, still managed to have cut off of 116. This year all current affairs were non conventional and the easy ones too had tweaked dates. Cutoff will be well below 110. I think if u have given both last year andd this year paper, u too might have gauged the difference in the sort of current affairs asked. They were not at all direct or on expected lines. Look at mrunal’s analysis or the same

          • Tyler

Don’t worry. He is a frustrated fake. He is copying the same statement again and again. Leave him.

          • Coma-Doof Warrior

            What is your guestimate cutoff?

          • Tyler

I miscalculated on first day. But by considering the time of people who didn’t get into service ( they have very less time for prelims prep), I have enquired who are already IRS.. most of them are hanging around 95-100( who got 130+ in 2016 ). Some people got 115-120.. it’s just because of max attempts and luck of right elimination. Those kind of people won’t be more than 500( most people got wasted by attempting more too). Outside people are scoring 70-80 mostly ( not every one do rigoroustest series practice to attempt more fastly ) . Some even thought paper was tough while exam.. and attempting more would be dangerous – only 50-60 attempts( these people are major chunk). Second paper will screen out many this time.By considering all my gut feeling of cut for general -(99-100)

          • Superman

I fully agree with your analysis.

          • Rohan Vijay

waah bhai waah. bahot logon ko jaante hoge aap fir toh.. officers bhi, delhi waale bhi, bahar waale bhi. nice job trying to fool everyone here

          • Shobhit

Haha. I know. Have come across such people in SSC but never thought that such retards exist in such a prestigious exam too. 😉

          • balle balle

they are everywhere..just to mess around..yhi log hote h jo dusro k dukh mein apni khushi dhundte h..bloody idiots

          • Bean Babu

Looks like social trading agent which was big scam last year. Paid for some fake comments and likes.

          • balle balle

            yeah..

          • yuvaraj singh

Dusro k dukh mein apni khushi….haha….bilkul sahi baat.
honest log bata de rahe hain ki last time se bhi kharab paper hua hai…par kuch log hero banne k liye apne marks jyada bata rahe hain ki dusron k jale pe namak chhidak k maje le sake.

          • balle balle

yeah,,i don’t know what do they get by doing it..sad fact.amateur!!

          • Rohan Vijay

I completely agree, but bhai take it from my experience, and a lot of others, cutoff will not drop drastically, however difficult it maybe, and specially with people still managing score above 120 in big numbers. Forumias dekho, bahot scores aaye hain. I dont mean to discourage you or anyone, but lets be realistic. A HUGE chunk is in 105-115 range, toh usse neeche sawaal hee nahi hai cutoff jaane ka, iss range mei hee rahegi, and maan ke chalo ke kahin beech mei hogi.. i would suggest everyone who feels they are on border to study opional properly at this time

          • Shobhit

Fine! Jitna aapko acha Lage itna cutoff rakh Lena. I m least bit bothered and will focus on mains. But answer me one question plz. Have u been this annoying right from ur birth or UPSC prep made u so?

          • Rohan Vijay

bhai agar aapko annoying laga toh sorry. aap mains ki prep karo full, specially optional right now if u feel you are a border case.. warna optional ka time nikalta jaata hai aur agla saal aa jaata hai. good luck 🙂

        • Rohan Vijay

it will be above your range, definitely. im sorry to disagree, but tht will be the case,.. a MAJOR chunk is falling in 105-115..and iss range mei hee rahegi cutoff, my guess being somewhere in the middle

    • balle balle

fair chances..mains prep should be started..

      • baba

thanks bahi.. koi theek se reply nahi kiya baba ki key se 110 ho gaye hai .. shuru karta hun ab..

        • balle balle

          yeah..ATB

  • Nairātmya

@iasbaba:disqus How soon can we expect TLP for mains? 🙂

[PS. I’d be really stoked if you can restart the Philosophy TLP. Seems like that initiative was given up upon after just 6 days last year]

  • Technology Assam

    12

  • dj

Everyone is saying that the paper was tough but I and few of my friends found it very moderate and all are getting 125-35 from various sources.I think the cut off will be 120+-3.

    • Rohan Vijay

Yes you are right. There is a huge chunk in the 110-115 range. So cut off will definitely be between 115-120

      • balle balle

btw,u never know how many of those claiming 115-120 will actually get it
cutoff 110 se kam hi rhega..ye to pakka h

        • Rohan Vijay

110 hee maan ke chalo bhai. Aur kam matlab 108-110 ho jaaegi zyada se zyada. Itni nahi girti hai cutoff ek dum se, specially when still many people are getiing high scores. I know pichli baar waale 130 scores waalo ke gir ke 110 hue hain, but bahot saare 105-110 waalon ke 120 plus bhi hue hain. good luck

          • balle balle

            btw..i am 115..i don’t need luck…but yeah..cut off glow hogi
            less than 110..

          • Rohan Vijay

bhadak kyu raha hai bhai. good luck in general bhi toh sakta hai. bc pre clear hua nahi ke hawa mei uddne lage.. tere jaise launde hee hain jo aage jaake kat te hain

          • balle balle

i am already IRS..so just fuck off..don’t need advice from an amateur

          • Rohan Vijay

lol. tu IRS? gaandu itni aukaat toh nahi hai teri.. commenting here like this, like an idiot everyhwere.. there is no way you are, and with that fake name balle balle.. irs hahahaha. unbelievable people like u exist.. chutiya.

          • Superman

@iasbaba:disqus Please remove the comments from this sadist @disqus_3Bz5VCSRWC:disqus . He is demoralising everyone.

          • heisenberg

yeah..even if he wants to show that he has got gud marks,he shud atleast encourage others with less marks to prepare for mains and give them hope, instead of plainly rejecting it.i don’t know why he is doing this!!

          • Rohan Vijay

KHANDAGALE PATIL PANKAJ PANDIT ye naam hai tera? chutiya gaandu.. tu mila na kisi din, teri biwi ko apni raand bana ke chodunga bc. saala nalla

Hahaha balle balle he is doubting ur credentials.
Rohan ,kid behave don’t use abuses here it won’t serve any purpose.
I don’t want to indulge in these petty stupid matter of predicting cutoff. Anyone scoring more than 100 shld prepare for mains bcz u never know. If not this time it will help u next year.
Aur rohan itni hi garmi hai tere mai to channelise it on studies if still there is any excess left then meet us at karol bagh (if u r in Delhi)..

    • Communist Manifesto

    • heisenberg

thats only few friend..major chunk in 100-115
      so,around 106-108.baaki..dekhte h..

  • Mohit

    I have one query :

    In the question of GST:

Has anybody looked into option (a) It will replace *multiple taxes* collected by multiple authorities and will thus create a single market in India.

    Shouldn’t that be “Indirect taxes”?

    • heisenberg

no friend..upsc k previous year ques dekhoge,to they don’t go for such details..ye sab vajiram, esp manocha k paper mein hota h..heheh..:p..to,it is correct..

  • David P

  • Shakthi

95 General category am out of race

    • Communist Manifesto

      don’t lose hope

      • Shakthi

I had hope earlier but now everyone is posting marks in the range 100 to 115…. may b major crunch of ppl in that bracket of marks so lost hope…. anyways thanks for replying… hope u r in race

        • Communist Manifesto

people tend to give inflated score. Experienced in many online test series I gave esp in these comments section. I would infact say, anybody getting above 90 should also not lose hope.

          • Shakthi

Thank u for reinstating hope 🙂

        • saran

Dont lose heart dear. it is a low scoring paper and low scoring year as well. Ira singhal got only 76 marks in paper 1 but ultimately she became topper. At least you can think that you could score better than a first ranked person. I am also scoring in your range. Still with an attitude of fight until death by expecting the worst.

          • Shakthi

Thank you so much… those words mean a lot to me… now ready to be ur co-fighter 🙂

    • Rohan Vijay

prepare for 2018. Make optional strong use this time wisely. you should be realistic at this moment, wasting 2 months in speculation will only trouble you nothing else

    • Shakti

Start for mains. Anyway it will pay dividend if not this year then next year. No one knows the cut off and you may qualify also

    • dul

no i dont thnk 95 enough

  • Naman

Babaji, getting 108 exact with your revised key. Any chances to clear because having Mathematics as an optional and starting from scratch need time which is already less. What to do, a borderline case like many here. Kindly reply. (General Category)

    • Hope is always there with this score. DO not waste time and start with Mains preparation

    • Rohit

hi, my optional is mathematics too. Can i get some guidance from you?

      • Naman

Hi Rohit, as i mentioned that even I have to start maths preparation from scratch. Anyhow I am happy to help, Let me know if you have any queries. 🙂

        • Rohit

I too have just started and the syllabus is huge. I feel that I should have started it 1 year ago.
And I have not done any coaching neither I have any coaching material.
Let me know if you have any good source which could help in finishing the syllabus quickly.
          9407656250 is my contact number.
          Thanks

  • Teja

getting 103.3 OBC…what do you think are my chances??

  • mission2017

@iasbaba:disqus , are you starting any programme for this year mains?

  • gp

Following @iasbaba since it’s inception, but never seen discussion stooping to such a low …

    • Its better to ignore them because morality and decency is not taught. It comes from within. Really surprised to see such comments.

      • Bean Babu

Babaji will you provide CSAT key answers anytime soon?

    • heisenberg

yeah,u are right..its not right..i have been here for over an year..never seen such crap..especially,this guy @disqus_3Bz5VCSRWC:disqus ..why is he abusing everyone!!..moreover,he is new here!!please @iasbaba:disqus ,do look into it and do the needful!!..indecency at its peak!!

  • Superman

To all the people who are reading this, I sincerely want to say that cut-off will remain below 100 and I can say that with confidence. I have an extensive network of IITian friends who cleared prelims last time and they are all sincere students. They are all scoring below 110 this time. Some are even below 100.
If you are scoring above 90 please don’t lose hope and start preparing for mains. There are people who are trying to demoralize students by posting bloated cutoffs like 105+, 115+ which are impossible this time.
    Peace.

    • AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON

      i am agree with you

    • Rohan Vijay

wont be below 100. Only iitians dont decide cutoff. a major chunk is above 105, so cutoff cant fall below that

      • sonu

Hey, last year many had very good marks, almost above 125+ but still cut off remains 110 -116/OBC-GEN. This time it will hardly be 100 or may remain below.

        • Rohan Vijay

No, it will be around 108-110, not less than that in any case

          • dul

            agree

    • saran

      I ALSO AGREE WITH YOU

    • annjins

Thank you superman for the motivation….hoping for the best.i have only 105..gen category

    • ASPIRANT

  • Portgas.D.Ace

@iasbaba:disqus i got 106.66(obc) in prelims. Now I’ve started to prepare for the mains… but still i having the dilemma whether i wud clear the prelims or not… if u cud say ur cutoff prediction i wud be able to get rid of the confusion and start to work towards the examination with a clear mind. So please post ur cutoff prediction. Thanks in advance

    • Hellfire
