    Hello Friends,

    Welcome to Day-31.

Importance of Self – Tracking: Learning from Last Year

Last year, aspirants used to comment their answers in the comment box on daily basis. There were huge participation in discussion. Putting answers in comment box has been very effective to self-track yourself after updating the score. In the end, you can cross check your performance through Disqus profile.

It was highly effective in the last edition of 60 Days that propelled aspirants to monitor their performance and learn through discussion. Let you solve these questions with full honesty and write your result in the comment box. Interact with peers to know your mistakes.

The importance of this initiative stands time-bound and aggressive reverse engineering to learn the concepts. Many of you must be busy with your own strategy but let us tell you honestly that in the last two months, it is very important to revise and consolidate your learning. Just reading won’t suffice.

So, take out few hours from your schedule and make it a revision exercise.

How can you make the best use of it?

Be honest to your effort and do not start competing with XYZ aspirants here just for the sake of marks. It is more important for you to introspect and check your learning than focusing on others. Try to answer the questions in 20 minutes only.

Do not get into negative feeling that I don’t have enough knowledge to answer these questions. Feel like you are taking the real exam. What would be your response then?

The same will be replicated in UPSC exam. Here, you get marks only and nothing else matters. So, make effort to know the answers to all questions. Do not cheat 😛

DETAILED MICRO ANALYSIS MATRIX SAMPLE– is given here. You can download this and do an assessment for yourself.  DOWNLOAD

    • You can copy paste the same format/modify as per your need in Google Spreadsheet and update it on daily basis.
    • Feedback talks about daily test results.
    • Follow-up talks about daily target achieved from sources and the number of revisions to do/done and dates. Sources column is to ensure that aspirants do not run behind various sources and follow the same throughout.

    Are you ready? Let’s start!

        • Cheeku

See ashish ji ,if insight asked you a question n you could not answer that that does not mean you are going wrong.read previous year papers ,if you ain’t able to solve questions from them by reffering to your current material, then you should probably introspect.I would suggest you to read the same sources again n again which you have referred earlier.Again ,rely on standard sources more like ncerts (11th art n culture ncert,n history ki ncerts to padhi hi honge).and connect it with current affair. There is no point of getting confused for sources now.fix your source and read it again n again.have a great day.:)

      • Lord Vorminious

Q7 is also wrong. Loktak is the largest freshwater lake in India, not Wular.,

        • Joydeep

          Dear Lord Vorminious 🙂
I feel they have given the right answer. Now, look at the option very carefully.
It says: ”Wular Lake (Jammu & Kashmir) is the largest freshwater lake in India, formed by tectonic activity.”
So, there are two parts in this option.
          1. Largest freshwater lake in India.
          2. Formation due to tectonic activity.

Now, if we observe the 2nd part, Wular lake is indeed the largest freshwater lake formed due to tectonic activity. The other one is Nainital Lake, with an area of 0.49 km2. Both these lakes are tectonic in origin.

So, even if the surface area of Loktak Lake is 287 km2, which is greater than that of Wular Lake, it is not tectonic in origin.

Hence, option no 1 is actually correct dear 🙂

          • Lord Vorminious

Thats a very stupid trick to use for the question setter but I agree the reasoning is legit.

            • Joydeep

              Not to worry 🙂
In the real exam, question asked will be much more straight forward. Something like this:
Which is the largest natural freshwater lake in India?
              a.) Vembanad lake.
              b.) Loktak lake.
              c.) Wular lake.
              d.) Chilka lake.

            • Lord Vorminious

Thankfully, Bhakts havent taken over UPSC yet, so we may have to wait till our last attempt for that question to come. 😛

Maybe your salary depends on number of people access the website, maybe not. But if its the former case, than better strategy would be using single account with genuine efforts to create a feedback channel. Good Luck 🙂

Dissected plain is recurring topic in IASBABA, I raised this doubt last year too.

Deccan plateau is a dissected plateau. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissected_plateau
Black soil is found in Deccan plateau, which a few days ago babaji answer explanation wrote is found in hot and dry places.

Kindly clarify this query. Association doesn’t fit.

      • Ashish Joshi

Exactly, the EQ in CC collision zone is sue to release of energy at plate interaction point, hence its shallow focus. There is no subduction hence no benioff zone, hence no deep focus EQ!
