- It is performed by young girls and boys during the festivals of Bihu, Assam’s three important agricultural festivals – Bhogali/Magh Bihu (January), Bohag/Rongali Bihu (April), and Kongali Bihu (October).
- Marks the beginning of Assamese New Year.
