The AISHE 2023–24 highlights India’s progress in women’s higher education, with female enrolment rising to 2.24 crore and a Gender Parity Index of 1.08. However, women remain underrepresented in engineering and formal employment, with lower labour force participation and wages than men. The key challenge is to translate educational gains into productive, degree-matched employment.
