Health authorities traced the outbreak to Legionella bacteria likely proliferating in contaminated cooling towers, prompting extensive testing and disinfection measures.

  • Causative Agent: Legionella pneumophila (Gram-negative bacterium), the most common cause of the disease. 
  • Disease Type: A severe form of bacterial pneumonia (lung infection)
  • Mode of Transmission: 
    • Infection occurs by inhaling aerosolized water droplets contaminated with Legionella
