2. Briefly explain the following terms in not more than 50 words each: (5 x 5 =25 marks)

  2. Locational factors for jute industry
  3. Industrial growth as a tool of sustainable economic development
  4. Significance of iron and steel industry
  5. Evolution of industries in post independence India

3. The jute industry holds immense potential due to its eco-friendliness and the changing consumption behaviour in the world. Discuss. Also examine the challenges and problems being faced by the jute industry. What changes are required at the policy level to address them? (20 marks)


4. What are the locational factors for the iron and steel industry? Do the locations of iron and steel industry in India always correspond to these factors? If not, discuss these deviations by taking suitable examples. (15 marks)


5. Discuss the changes in the locational pattern of cotton textile industry in India. Also discuss the factors behind these changes. (15 marks)
