Welcome to Day 16 of TLP Phase II. Please understand that the next 12 weeks are not meant to test your knowledge. Most of you are giving your first attempt and its really important for you to self assess yourself over the fundamentals of various subjects. And even if you have appeared for CSM before, it is always desirable to brush up your basics before you go on to attempt highly analytical and thought provoking questions asked by UPSC. TLP Phase I was designed precisely for that. Moving on to Phase II, we will cover all possible issues of contemporary importance as well as touching upon various aspects of static subjects.

Please be sincere and regular in this phase of your preparation because what you build here will become the foundation of phase II of TLP.


1. The economic life in 18th century India had imprints of the contemporary political scenario of the country. Examine.


2. Wellesley is known for his expansionist policies in India. Discuss the instruments employed by him to achieve this end.


3. The relation between the East India Company and the British Parliament was never a smooth one. Do you agree. Examine the evolution of this relationship and also discuss the factors that brought abut significant changes in that relationship.


4. Do you think politicians in India have no moral conscience as they keep shifting their allegiances? Critically comment.


5. For the better performance of infra sector, newer and innovative funding techniques and sources are to be devised, changes in the regulatory environment in which infrastructure companies operate and the tax framework which applies to the sector are to be made favourable. Elucidate.
