Note: TLP Phase I is designed to let you explore and express the basic concepts in different subjects. The questions asked in this phase won’t be too analytical. However, they will require you to connect different concepts and evolve a response.

This time, we are posting questions in Hindi as well to encourage participation from aspirants writing their exam in Hindi language. We request you to write and upload your answers on this forum and get benefited from the community.

1. What are cratons? How do they differ from shields? Discuss the distribution of major shields of the world. Also comment on their geological significance.

क्रैटन क्या हैं? वे ढाल से कैसे भिन्न होते हैं? दुनिया के प्रमुख ढालों के वितरण पर चर्चा करें। उनके भूवैज्ञानिक महत्व पर भी टिप्पणी करें।

2. What is a coastline? How do coastlines get their shape? Are coastlines transforming due to climate change? Examine. What will be its consequence for the low lying coastal regions? Discuss.

समुद्र तट क्या है? समुद्र तटों को आकार कैसे मिलता है? क्या जलवायु परिवर्तन के कारण तटीय इलाकों में परिवर्तन हो रहा है? जांच करें। निम्न उंचाई वाले तटीय क्षेत्रों के लिए इसके परिणाम क्या होंगे? चर्चा करें।

3. What is calving? What are the factors that cause calving? How does calving affect the glaciers? Also examine the effects of glacier retreat on the climate.

काल्विंग क्या है? क्या कारक हैं जो काल्विंग का कारण हैं? काल्विंग ग्लेशियरों को कैसे प्रभावित करता है? जलवायु पर ग्लेशियर क्षयन के प्रभावों की भी जांच करें।

4. A recent research finding has suggested that the Arctic sea ice may be thinning faster than predicted. That means Arctic Ocean could be ice free much sooner than predicted. What would be the harmful consequences of ice-free summers in the Arctic Ocean? Examine.
