UPSC CSE 2018- Final Result: Few words from IASbaba
Those who could make it
There is no doubt in the fact that qualifying this examination takes commitment, effort and sacrifice. That is what makes success in this examination even more satisfying and emotional. Your success is owned by you. Others might have played some part in your journey but the ultimate credit goes to you and you must feel proud for it. Now you have your entire career ahead of you. You will serve the country and her citizens in different capacities and from different geographical locations. In many ways, your real journey starts now. You will face many challenges in your career but at the same time have so many opportunities to excel and show your potential to the world. Your actions will decide the kind of support and love that you will get from the society. Your eagerness to acquire new skills, curiosity to gain new knowledge and interest in acquiring new insights will make you a successful and popular civil servant. The journey is going to be a challenging yet beautiful one and you must enjoy every bit of it.
Those who couldn’t make it this time
The day you decided to prepare for CSE, you were quite aware of the challenges and frustrations that were waiting for you. You were smart enough to realise that success in CSE might take longer than expected. The day we publish the list of students from IASbaba who could secure a rank in CSE 2018, you will be amazed to see the number of candidates who tasted success in their 3rd or even 4th attempt! This, my dear friends, is the very nature of this examination. It doesn’t let you taste success until you have reached the peak of your efforts, strategic planing and potential. You are only a step away from reaching that threshold. It is no easy job to secure a place among a few thousand aspirants who appeared for interview this year! Isn’t it? Your presence in the final 2500 is a testimony to your efforts and commitment. No one can take that away from you. Its fine that you couldn’t cross the final line. You will cross it next year.
However, it is high time that you sit back, take deep breaths and introspect. UPSC shall announce the marks in few days. But before that, you ask yourself the question- where did I falter? Could it be essay or was it Paper IV? Or was it my optional? Try to answer these questions honestly and once you get to know your marks, compare your own assessment with the marks that you have actually obtained. If your assessment resonates with that of UPSC, the signal is clear for you- you NEED to put some extra effort on certain subjects but NOT at the expense of other subjects even if you fared well in them.
You have already got a good break after interview and you have faced all the stages of this examination. Make this your strength and source of confidence. Next year, your experience of the whole process will give you the extra edge over others. Prelims is knocking at the doors. With hardly 55 days remaining for the preliminary examination, you don’t have the luxury to sulk and cry on the results. Rather, be more energetic, more motivated and even more determined to crack CSE this time. Start your preparation smartly and don’t think too much about the final result. Focus on hard work and enhance your skills. Be better in writing answers, fine-tune your articulation, make your responses crisp and clear and be innovative.
Short term strategy (Before Prelims): Revise your static part notes for prelims, go through current affairs thoroughly, practice IASbaba’s 60 Days without fail and attempt CSAT practice papers at least once a week till Prelims.
Medium term strategy (After Prelims and before Mains): Write more, write better and write relevant with IASbaba’s free TLP online answer writing programme or the C2C test series. Try adding innovation and novelty in your answers without being too much adventurous or absurd.
Long term strategy (From today till Interview): Keep talking to people, continue gaining new insights, develop your own unbiased perspective, read at least 20 pages from a good non-fiction book on a daily basis and try building your unique personality.
In your efforts, you will find IASbaba standing beside you. Take full advantage of our initiatives, feel free to write to us and promise us that you will restart your journey with new energy, enthusiasm and happiness.
All the Best
