Question 1 of 5
1. Question
Three pipes A, B and C can fill a cistern in 8 hours. After working at it together for 2 hours, C is closed and A and B fill it in 9 hours more. The time taken by C alone to fill the cistern is
Correct
Solution (a)
As it takes 8hrs to completely fill the cistern, in two hours they will togetherbe filling 1/4th of the cistern.
Then, 3/4th of the cistern is filled in 9hrs by A+B. It means they can fill whole cistern in 12hrs.
In terms of percentage,
A+B does 100% work in 12hrs and A+B+C does 100% work in 8hrs.
So, amount of work done by A+B in 8hrs = (100/12)*8 = 200/3 %
So, it means remaining part is done by C which is (100-200/3)% = 100/3%
100/6% work is done by C in 8hrs
1% work will be done by C in 8/(100/3)hrs
100% work will be done by C in 8/(100/3)*100 = 24hrs.
Incorrect

Question 2 of 5
2. Question
A person can travel at the speed of 40 miles per hour. If he increases his speed by 60%, how long will he take to cover 320 miles?
Correct
Solution (a)
Original speed = 40 miles per hour
If the speed is increased by 60%,
Then, the new speed = 160 % of 40 = 64 miles per hour
Distance to be covered = 320 miles
Time = Distance / Speed
Time = 320 / 64
Time = 5 hours
Incorrect
Solution (a)
Original speed = 40 miles per hour
If the speed is increased by 60%,
Then, the new speed = 160 % of 40 = 64 miles per hour
Distance to be covered = 320 miles
Time = Distance / Speed
Time = 320 / 64
Time = 5 hours

Question 3 of 5
3. Question
Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow each passage. Your answer to these questions should be based on passage only.
India celebrated its 70th Independence Day today. But are we really free? I am not sure about it. Some of us are working day & night but are not happy. We have forgotten that Work is a part of life not the Heart of life. Are we free? Some of us want to explore the world, experiment with challenging career moves but pressure from society is not giving us any slack. Do we have freedom of choice? Some of us are enjoying freedom and independence forgetting our old retired parents who want nothing more than our company and happiness. Is this freedom worth it? Some of us have fallen in the worst ever trap of world biggest religion which nothing but ‘Consumerism. Is it ever ending?
Idea behind sharing this small passage is not to judge anyone. I am no one to do that. Mahatma Gandhi always said very distinctly that nothing is right or wrong; it is the intent behind that act decides its fate. Since, we all are on different journey, idea is to just motivate ourselves to take a pause, analyse, introspect and then take a call to invest our time and energy in something which makes our soul happy and which brings sustainable satisfaction. We all know that life never stops and we can keep living someone’s life forever or we can choose to act and get things back in order. As this transformation is difficult, this shift can very consciously be brought in gradual manner.
What seems to be the main intent of the author in the article?
Correct
Solution (c)
According to author, although most of us are progressing in our journeys but somewhere we are still not free in different contexts. So, author is trying to inspire us to get real freedom and introspect for the actual feeling freedom.
Incorrect

Question 5 of 5
5. Question
In a class there are 60 students, out of whom 15% are girls. Each girl monthly fee is ₹ 350 and each boy monthly fee is 34% more than a girl. What is the total monthly fee of girls and boys together?
Correct
Solution (b)
Number of Girls = 60*15% = 9
Total monthly fee of girls = 350*9 = 3150
Number of Boys = 60-9 = 51
Monthly fees of boy = 350+34% *350 = 469
Total monthly fee of boys = 469*51 = 23919
Therefore, sum = 3150+23919 = 27069.
Incorrect
Solution (b)
Number of Girls = 60*15% = 9
Total monthly fee of girls = 350*9 = 3150
Number of Boys = 60-9 = 51
Monthly fees of boy = 350+34% *350 = 469
Total monthly fee of boys = 469*51 = 23919
Therefore, sum = 3150+23919 = 27069.
