Question 1 of 5
1. Question
Mr. Vaibhav went in his car to meet his friend Jai. He drove 30 km towards north and then 40 km towards west. He then turned to south and covered 8 km. Further he turned to east and moved 26 km. Finally, he turned right and drove 10 km and then turned left to travel 19 km. How far and in which direction is he from the starting point?
Correct
Solution (c)
We can draw a direction diagram according to the problem statement.
Net displacement in the east direction = 26 + 19 – 40 = 5 km.
Net displacement in the north direction = 30 – 8 – 10 = 12 km.
Hence, net distance from the starting point = 122 + 52) = 13 km.
Therefore, option c is the correct answer
Incorrect
Solution (c)
We can draw a direction diagram according to the problem statement.
Net displacement in the east direction = 26 + 19 – 40 = 5 km.
Net displacement in the north direction = 30 – 8 – 10 = 12 km.
Hence, net distance from the starting point = 122 + 52) = 13 km.
Therefore, option c is the correct answer

Question 2 of 5
2. Question
Eight points lie on the circumference of a circle. The difference between the number of triangles and the number of quadrilaterals that can be formed by connecting these points is
Correct
Solution (b)
The number of quadrilaterals that can be made using any 4 points out of a total of 8 points on the given circle = 8C4 = 70
The number of triangles that can be made using any 4 points out of a total of 8 points on the given circle = 8C3 = 56
Thus, the required difference = 70-56 = 14
Hence, option b is correct.
Incorrect
Solution (b)
The number of quadrilaterals that can be made using any 4 points out of a total of 8 points on the given circle = 8C4 = 70
The number of triangles that can be made using any 4 points out of a total of 8 points on the given circle = 8C3 = 56
Thus, the required difference = 70-56 = 14
Hence, option b is correct.

Question 3 of 5
3. Question
Study the information given below and answer the questions that follow.
Six friends Abhishek, Deepak, Mridul, Pritam, Ranjan and Salil married within a year in the months of February, April, July, September, November and December and in the cities of Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, but not necessarily following the above order. The brides’ names were Geetika, Jasmine, Hema, Brinda, Ipsita and Veena, once again not following any order.
The following are some facts about their weddings.
Mridul’s wedding took place in Chennai; however he was not married to Geetika or Veena
Abhishek’s wedding took place in Ahmedabad and Ranjan’s in Delhi; however neither of them was married to Jasmine or Brinda
The wedding in Kolkata took place in February
Hema’s wedding took place in April, but not in Ahmedabad
Geetika and Ipsita got married in February and November and in Chennai and Kolkata but not following the above order
Pritam visited Bengaluru and Kolkata only after his marriage in December
Salil was married to Jasmine to September
Who among the following is Hema’s husband?
Correct
Solution (b)
First, we must use the positive information which we are sure about and put it in the tabular form Abhishek’s wedding took place in Ahmedabad and Ranjan’s in Delhi; however neither of them was married to Jasmine or Brinda.
Now, we use this info
Salil was married to Jasmine to September
The wedding in Kolkata took place in February.
Now, Hema’s wedding took place in April, but not in Ahmedabad
We already know that neither Jasmine nor Brinda is married to Abhishek. Now, this info tells even Hema can’t be married to Abhishek as he is from Ahmedabad and Hema’s wedding didn’t take place in Ahmedabad.
And also Geetika and Ipsita got married in February and November and in Chennai and Kolkata but not following the above order.
So the only bride left for Abhishek is Veena. Let’s put it in the table
Now using the following info
Geetika and Ipsita got married in February and November and in Chennai and Kolkata but not following the above order
And Mridul’s wedding took place in Chennai; however, he was not married to Geetika or Veena
Incorrect
