NEW INITIATIVE- MAINS 2015: THINK, LEARN & PERFORM (TLP)
TLP Phase II- Started– Click here
Note- Check out the phase-I of Think & Learn– Click

The dust of prelims must have settled by now. What is your score? So what do you think the cut off would be? Is it at least in the range of the predictions being made by Nirmal Baba and Radhe Maa? And what about the predictions of Pandurang Sir of Golakhnath IAS Institute of Jaunpur? What does he say?
Boy! Go find out the cut off as soon as possible. UPSC has a special award for those who predict the cut off with least margin of error. Oh wait! We just forgot that you are a true and sincere aspirant. You don’t speculate. Do you?
Needless to say friends, all the noise around you is good for nothing. It is high time that you brace yourself for the next step. Buckle up tight not for the want of becoming a civil servant but to enjoy the journey ahead. The next 100 odd days are important and these days must be utilized with all seriousness or rather sincerity. We have so much to learn from ISRO in this regard. Despite multiple failures and fiasco initially, ISRO has now become one of the most reliable and efficient space organizations of this world. The success of their secret is that they never look back. In each attempt they try harder and perform better. So let’s start the journey and we promise that we shall be with you throughout make your journey enjoyable and fruitful.
All of you must be aware that answer writing is an inherent and most important part of second stage of UPSC examination i.e MAINS. With the change in format since 2013, the shift is towards basic understanding, analytical approach and opinion based issues. These attributes will not come from endless reading or coverage of numerous books. It requires understanding of issues and analysis of the same.
Before we delve into the issue further, let us talk about the pros and cons of joining the regular test series conducted by various coaching institutes. The biggest advantage is that you get a lot of practice. You become thick skinned and hardly any question can unsettle your nerves or surprise you in the Main examination. Your writing speed improves and you can almost always manage to complete the paper in the prescribed time limit. Unfortunately, however, there are more cons than pros. Firstly; you have no idea about the credentials of the examiner.
In most of the cases your fellow aspirants having failed in 3-4 attempts would be checking the papers. Most of the times they award you average marks with generalist comments and feedback. Secondly, the model answers are not up to the mark. More often than not, Hindu articles are copied and pasted in pointer form. Thirdly, these tests either make you over confidant or extremely depressed. Barring few bright aspirants who are “worth investing” the time and effort are provided with realistic assessment. Rest becomes a source of money minting. We are sorry for these harsh words but most of you would relate to these true facts. We don’t have the intention to criticize anyone. There might be one or two honest and effective test series but as a general rule these statements hold true for most of them. So, what happens is that people are left with serious gaps in the process and that becomes their signature for failure ultimately.
In fact, proper and timely reviews or feedback has been elusive to most of you for a consistent period of time. IASbaba is going to take this challenge and will make sure to provide and fill all the necessary gaps in your preparation. This is one of the efforts among others.
We are glad to announce phase II of THINK & LEARN Mains Answer Writing Programme of IASbaba. We have renamed the initiative as THINK, LEARN & PERFORM (TLP).
