In a parking basement of a company, there are some bicycles and cars. On Tuesday there are 182 wheels in the basement. How many bicycles are there?

Solution (b)
Check using the options
If there are 20 bicycles, there must be 20*2 = 40 wheels
Remaining wheels = 182-40 = 142 wheels = 142/4 is not an integer so there cannot be 20 bicycles.
Similarly checking for 19 bicycles = 19*2 = 38 wheels
Remaining wheels = 182 – 38 = 144 = 144/4 = 36 cars hence this is the answer.

One-third phenol is taken out from the bottle of phenol and then an equal amount of water is poured into the bottle to fill it. This operation is done three times. Find the final ratio of phenol and water in the bottle?

After the first operation, the amount of Dettol in the bottle = 2/3
After the second operation, the amount of Dettol in the bottle = 2/3 x 2/3 = 4/9
After the third operation, the amount of Dettol in the bottle = 4/9 x 2/3 = 8/27
The amount of water after the forth operation = 1 – 8/27 = 19/27
Therefore the required ratio = 8/27 : 19/27 = 8 : 19

3w – w = 60
W = 30 day
And 3w = 90 days
Therefore together they can finish the work in {(30 x 90)/(30 + 90)} = 22.5 days
