Question 1 of 5
1. Question
The total number of Natural numbers that lie between 10 and 300 and are divisible by 9 is
Correct
Solution (b)
The first natural number between 10 and 300 which is divisible by 9 is 18
The last natural number which is divisible by 9 and is less than 300 is 297
This is an AP with first term 18, the last term 297 and common difference = 9
297=18+(n-1)9
279=(n-1)9
n-1 = 31
n=32

Question 2 of 5
2. Question
A has Rs 3 more than B, but then B wins by placing a bet and triples his money so that he now has Rs 2 more than the original amount of money that the two boys had between them. How much money did A and B have between them before B’s win?
Correct
Solution (c)
Let’s assume that B had x rupees and A had x+3 rupees.
Total = 2x+3 rupees
B wins on the horses and triples his money so that he now has Rs 2 more than the original amount of money that the two boys had between them.
3x = 2x+5
=> x = 5
Therefore, the total money they had before = 13 rupees

Question 3 of 5
3. Question
Smokejumpers are often asked to address to organizations and the public groups about the importance of fire protection, particularly fire deterrence and detection. Because smoke detectors reduce the risk of dying in a fire by half, smokejumpers often provide audiences with information on how to fix these protective devices in their homes. Specifically, they tell them these things: A smoke detector should be placed on each floor of a home. While sleeping, people are in particular risk of a surfacing fire, and there must be a detector outside each sleeping area. A good site for a detector would be a hallway that runs between living spaces and bedrooms. Because of the dead-air space that might be missed by turbulent hot air bouncing around above a fire, smoke detectors should be installed either on the ceiling at least four inches from the adjoining wall, or high on a wall at least four, but no further than twelve, inches from the ceiling. Detectors should not be mounted near windows, exterior doors, or other places where drafts might direct the smoke away from the unit nor should they be placed in kitchens and garages, where cooking and gas fumes are likely to cause bogus alarms.
What is the main focus of this passage?
Correct
Solution (b)
Let us evaluate each option, as mentioned in the first option there is no mention of how smokejumpers carry out their errands in the passage
If we make a keen observation of the passage, there is a mention of proper installation of home smoke detectors throughout the passage like “A smoke detector should be placed on each floor of a home”, “A good site for a detector would be a hallway that runs between living spaces and bedrooms” and “…smoke detectors should be installed either on the ceiling at least four inches from the adjoining wall…” hence option b is correct.
Option c and d are narrow conclusions which do not bring out the whole conclusion of the passage.

The passage indicates that one responsibility of smokejumpers is to:-
Correct
Solution (d)
The first few lines of the passage make it apparent about the responsibility of smokejumpers which spells out the importance of preventing fires. Hence option d is correct.
It is not to be confused with option b as it is not the responsibility of smokejumpers to check if the smoke detector is properly installed. They just provide audiences with information on how to fix these protective devices in their homes.

Question 5 of 5
5. Question
It is undeniable that some very useful analogies can be drawn between the relational systems of computer mechanism and the relational systems of brain mechanism. The comparison does not depend upon any close resemblance between the actual mechanical links which occur in brains and computers; it depends on what the machines do. Furthermore, brains and computers can both be organized so as to solve problems. The mode of communication is very similar in both the cases, so much so that computers can now be designed to generate artificial human speech and even, by accident, to produce sequences of words which human beings recognize as poetry. The implication is not that machines are gradually assuming human forms, but that there is no sharp break of continuity between what is human, what is mechanical.
From the passage, it is evident that the author thinks
Correct
Solution (d)
In the second last line, the author mentions the accidental mixing up of the words by computer can result in poetry which is mentioned in option d.
Incorrect
Solution (d)
In the second last line, the author mentions the accidental mixing up of the words by computer can result in poetry which is mentioned in option d.
