Science of Meditation:
Meditation affects everything – it touches every single dimension of life, and at the same time, it doesn’t change anything. Meditation is precise, scientific, and also very mysterious.
To understand how meditation affects every single aspect of our lives, we have to observe it while it’s happening. Meditation changes our emotional framework, the way we look at ourselves, the conversations we have with ourselves, our thought processes, and the way we connect with the world around us. The underlying realm of aliveness and consciousness hidden within us is what supports our thought processes.
Thoughts cannot affect us by themselves. Unless we bring our focus and awareness to the thinking process, thoughts are just random dreams. While asleep, we are constantly dreaming – generating innumerable thoughts, but none of them really matter because once we wake up, we simply recollect them as dreams.
What happens during the day is what makes life personal. Even during the day, you’re dreaming; you are just using your consciousness and awareness to pick and choose your experiences, to pick and choose your thought processes. Otherwise, life is just happening.
It does not require your permission or your approval – life simply happens. That is how it happens to plants, animals, and to human beings, but we bring our conscious awareness to it. We may say, “I am alive because I’m eating, walking, and talking.” We claim credit for life, but in fact, we are simply acknowledging the phenomenon of life that is already happening. Meditation is the pathway to understanding the phenomenon of life.
