Question 1 of 5
1. Question
A can do a certain work in the same time in which B and C together can do it. If A and B together could do it in 10 days and C alone in 50 days, then B alone could do it in:
Correct
Solution (c)
We know that completing 1 unit of work means completing 100% of the work.
(A+B) completes the work in 10 days. So, in 1 day they do 10% of the work.
‘C’ completes work in 50 days. So, in 1 day ‘C’ does only 2% of the work.
So, (A+B+C) will complete 12% work in 1 day.
We know that A can do work as much as B and C together.
So, replacing A with B+C we get,
(B+C+ B+ C) completes 12% work in 1 day
Putting 2% work of ‘C’ for 1 day we get,
2B + 4% = 12%
B’s 1 day work = 4%
So, B completes 4% work in one day. Therefore, for completing 100% work, it will take 25days.
Incorrect

Question 2 of 5
2. Question
Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow. Your answer to these questions should be based on passage only.
There is strong evidence that alcohol causes cancer at seven sites in the body and probably others. Current estimates suggest that alcoholattributable cancers at these sites make up 5.8% of all cancer deaths worldwide. Confirmation of specific biological mechanisms by which alcohol increases the incidence of each type of cancer is not required to infer that alcohol is a cause.
What is the stated relation between alcohol consumption and the occurrence of the cancer?
There is no evidence to show any correlation between the two.
Strong evidence is available to show that they are directly correlated atleast for the seven sites into discussion.
Which of the following is correct?
Correct
Solution (b)
It is clearly mentioned that strong evidence is there to prove the correlation between alcohol and the cancer at the seven discussed sites.
Incorrect
Solution (b)
It is clearly mentioned that strong evidence is there to prove the correlation between alcohol and the cancer at the seven discussed sites.

Question 3 of 5
3. Question
A, B and C jointly thought of engaging themselves in a business venture. It was agreed that A would invest ₹. 16,500 for 4 months, B, ₹. 7,500 for 6 months and C, ₹. 10,000 for 3 months. A wants to be the working member for which, he was to receive 5% of the profits. The profit earned was ₹. 20,000. Calculate the share of B in the profit.
Correct
Solution (b)
For managing, A receives = 5% of ₹. 20,000 = ₹. 1,000. This is extra for being a working member.
Net profit left to be divided among A, B and C is ₹.(20,000 – 1,000) = ₹19,000.
Ratio of A’s, B’s & c’s investments = (16,500 x 4): (7,500 x 6): (10,000 x 3) = 66,000: 45,000: 30,000 which is 22:15:10
Therefore, B’s share = (B’s Investment/Total Investment) * Profit = ₹. [15/47 * 19,000] ~ Rs.6064
Incorrect

Question 4 of 5
4. Question
Savant bought a microwave oven and paid 10% less than the original price. He sold it with 30% profit on the price he had paid. What percentage of profit did savant earn on the original price?
Correct
Solution (a)
Let the original price = Rs.100
Then, C.P. for Savant = Rs.90
S.P. = 130% of Rs.90 = 117
So, profit % on original price = (Profit/Original Price) *100 = (117100)/100 *100 = 17%
Incorrect
Solution (a)
Let the original price = Rs.100
Then, C.P. for Savant = Rs.90
S.P. = 130% of Rs.90 = 117
So, profit % on original price = (Profit/Original Price) *100 = (117100)/100 *100 = 17%

Question 5 of 5
5. Question
One pipe can fill a tank four times as fast as another pipe. If together the two pipes can fill the tank in 45 minutes, then the slower pipe alone will be able to fill the tank in
Correct
Solution (c)
Let the slower pipe alone fill the tank in x minutes
Then, faster pipes will fill it in minutes.
Therefore, when they are open together, tank filled per minute is (1/x) + (4/x) which is given as (1/45).
So, 5/x = 1/45 which gives x= 225min which is nothing but the time taken by slower pipe to fill the tank.
Incorrect
